Temple Square Christmas Lights

Went to Temple Square the other night to look at the lights. The pictures are from my phone so they are not good. However, the temple that night just as every night took my breath away because of how absolutely beautiful, serene, and perfect it is. This is one place that truly feels completely different and once your there it feels like your not even in the city.

O Christmas Tree

FHE yesterday we got to see the Jazz practice facility: that means I got to see the players locker room for when they practice and learned my favorite player Mehmet Okur likes to use Men's Speedstick haha
We also have a Christmas Tree which had given our apartment such a nice, home like feeling :)

Utah Jazz-Temple Square-Gilmore Girls

With school all done my weekend was amazing. I got to go to the Utah Jazz/Indiana Pacers game with Jeff, Steph and Greg and enjoyed every minute! The Jazz were wearing their green uniforms which made the game extra cool. Saturday I got to spend the evening enjoying some Gilmore Girls with the roomies. Sunday, I got to go to the First Presidency Christmas Devotional at the Conference Center with friends, Jason, Jayden and his girlfriend Chloe. The music was incredible. The arrangement for O Holy Night blew me away as did of course, the messages. We walked around Temple Square for a bit and got to see the lights and
I was sure I had frostbite on my legs and toes by the time we were done (pictures to come later). So cold!! Finishing off the night we got to watch A Muppets Christmas Carol for Disney night. All in all what a wonderful way to top off my school semester!

Christmas season comes into full swing = Christmas music, lights, hot cocoa, snow and sledding! Lots of people hate Christmas music-I however l.o.v.e it! It just makes things happy as do Christmas lights which I LOVE seeing!!
On another great note- I am pretty much done w/ my homework for the semester which feels amazing-lots of time to play before I move!
Here are some pics from Thanksgiving weekend in Buhl-Christmas in the Nightime sky had a super fireworks show this year and I loved every minute.Fireworks rock.

Positive comments are so great right!?

Firstly-today while browsing the grade area online for my Orientation to Education class, I happened upon numerous comments on every assignment from my instructor. Each was positive and mentioned how great my writing was and how much she enjoys reading them, as well as the fact that they are so well written. I mean, sure she probably says that to lots of students but it still made me feel pretty good. Then I get to the grade for my Historical Perspectives paper and there was written “Summer, your Historical Perspectives paper is one of the best I have read in a long time. etc...". This made me feel really good because I really do try to write well on all of my assignments and I had been pretty worried about this particular paper so as of today....+10 points to Summer.

Lastly- In my film class today we talked about comedies and parodies. The first 3 clips our teacher chose to show to us....music videos by Weird Al. This made for a fantastic morning as, everyone should know, Weird Al is just plain awesome as well as a genius. So enjoy this as a tribute to the first morning I have actually liked my Intro to Film teacher.

Sidenote: Dangerous Minds- the film that the original song comes on is quite fantastic.

A great new site - my life is average-

Here are a couple of my favorites so far:
"Today, my bus passed a school, and I saw a little boy dressed in a full batman costume walking around alone. I wondered aloud where his parents were, and the stranger sitting behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Dude, Bruce Wayne's parents are dead..." I laughed so hard I missed my stop. "

"Today, I was writing my English paper. There was a minimum of 850 words and I was sitting at 848. I ended the paper with "Peace out."

"Today, I set my alarm to a baby's cry. When it went off during my lecture class, the boy sitting next to me immediately opened his backpack and said "sshh, it's okay lil guy, daddy loves you" The looks were priceless and I think I'm a little bit in love. "

"Today I went to my sons class for career day as a cop in full uniform. I asked a little girl in front what she thought I was. Seeing her struggle to find the words I told her it starts with a "c" and ends with "op". Her answer? Caramel apple pop. It was the only time I had any regrets about my career."

"Today I got an update on the shipment of my Where's Waldo book. Apparently it has been lost in the mail and I'm going to get a refund on my money. Touche Waldo well played"

"Today while at the gas station, a man walked out with a shirt on that said "Who Needs Drugs?" on the front. Expecting something religious to be on the back, he turns around and I see that the back said "No seriously, I have drugs." My 50 year old mom laughed harder than I did"

"'Cause everything is never as it seems"

So lately, I am really liking this song Fireflies by Owl City. I heard it once and liked it! So I checked out the video and it's really simple but I really like the video too. It's cute and different and quirky. check it out!

An amazing man with an amazing testimony...

This is one of the single most incredible talks I have ever heard in my life. Listening to this man bear witness and share his testimony is one experience everyone should take advantege of. He is such a great speaker but this was something else, it was so powerful.

refreshing weekend

Got to head home this weekend. It was a long drive but most certainly worth it. I love my house in Buhl because of the simplicity and beauty and peacefulness that comes with being here. Getting out of the city is always so refreshing. It was extra great this time because the past couple of months have been, well, more stressful than I have liked and so busy and I've felt kind of in a rut. Arriving in Buhl and breathing in some fresh air was great.

On top of everything...this morning I awoke to a snow covered lawn! It was crazy! At first I thought...ugh snow! But as I looked out I realized that it was so beautiful and so I have decided that the snow is okay. I mean it is almost winter so I better get used to it!

...In Wolf City, Wyoming...Wolf City, Wyoming...

Ahem...this past weekend for my Intro to Film class I began watching some movies from the AFI's Top 100 movies list for an assignment. One of the films I chose to watch has changed my life...okay not really but it is AMAZING and everyone should watch it!! It is called Cat Ballou and it is a hilarious kind of spoof on the American Western. I guarantee you will laugh!! I am not a Jane Fonda fan but for this and only this movie I am...so set a goal to watch this ASAP : )

Okay so the best part of the week so far- I am now realizing how great my roommate is. She's lived with me since early last Spring and we have always gotten along but lately it's been really nice. We talk for long periods of time about everything and she's been helping me with my car problems and vice versa. It's just a nice little period of good. Like the other day she made some cookies and I LOVED them...so yesterday she quickly baked a couple more so I would have some to take to work with me...she really rocks! So I am trying hard to be extra kind to her too since we are getting along so well. It will be very sad once I move and I know I'll miss her but for now...it's great to have someone who I enjoy hanging out with!

ps-sorry I am not all cool and can make my blog super pretty...for now it's best to keep it simple I think.

The first of my blog posts...possibly the last....we shall see...

So I have been considering for awhile now to start writing in my blog. The only real reason signed up in the first place was so I could read everyone else's easier but I figure what the hey! Okay so blog post....today was the busiest day ever and for some reason each day continues to get busier! I was up at 6:30 and headed to an Elementary School where I aided for an hour in a 1st grade classroom! The kids are so cute and the teacher I am helping is a sweetheart and also is shorter than I am: ) Not saying that makes me feel good...but it does just a bit! Any who straight from there I went up to the Institute and flipped pancakes as part of the Spirit of Place Committee I am on. I poured and flipped and served pancakes for 3 hours!!! It was so tiring! Not to mention somehow I managed to have the messiest area..ugh...AND managed to spatter my shirt and pants with batter...in front of 2 boys of course!!! Any who...the best part was even with all my mangled pancakes people still took them with a smile...

My pancakes of course did not look anything like this...but were still pretty good!
Once that was over I headed to Hollywood Video, the bank and ran home for a quick snack of my most favoritist chips ever-Tostitos Scoops with a Hint of JalapeƱo-seriously try them-
I am addicted!! So on to work and presently I am avoiding homework which is terrible I know...there are just more interesting things to do like watch One Tree Hill : ) Tonight I have my Sorority Dues Banquet which I am attending an hour late (thanks work!) but I am still excited...okay that's all..

Next time on....ummm my blog??--well for now just taking name suggestions--
