Weekend trip to Logan :)

So-- went to Logan this past weekend to spend some time with the family. Not only did I get a free shirt at Mikey's hockey game but I got to spend Saturday evening playing some serious Family Feud with my cousins and sister! I rather enjoyed it and can't wait to head back  :)

Positive comments are so great right!?

Firstly-today while browsing the grade area online for my Orientation to Education class, I happened upon numerous comments on every assignment from my instructor. Each was positive and mentioned how great my writing was and how much she enjoys reading them, as well as the fact that they are so well written. I mean, sure she probably says that to lots of students but it still made me feel pretty good. Then I get to the grade for my Historical Perspectives paper and there was written “Summer, your Historical Perspectives paper is one of the best I have read in a long time. etc...". This made me feel really good because I really do try to write well on all of my assignments and I had been pretty worried about this particular paper so as of today....+10 points to Summer.

Lastly- In my film class today we talked about comedies and parodies. The first 3 clips our teacher chose to show to us....music videos by Weird Al. This made for a fantastic morning as, everyone should know, Weird Al is just plain awesome as well as a genius. So enjoy this as a tribute to the first morning I have actually liked my Intro to Film teacher.

Sidenote: Dangerous Minds- the film that the original song comes on is quite fantastic.

A great new site - my life is average-

Here are a couple of my favorites so far:
"Today, my bus passed a school, and I saw a little boy dressed in a full batman costume walking around alone. I wondered aloud where his parents were, and the stranger sitting behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Dude, Bruce Wayne's parents are dead..." I laughed so hard I missed my stop. "

"Today, I was writing my English paper. There was a minimum of 850 words and I was sitting at 848. I ended the paper with "Peace out."

"Today, I set my alarm to a baby's cry. When it went off during my lecture class, the boy sitting next to me immediately opened his backpack and said "sshh, it's okay lil guy, daddy loves you" The looks were priceless and I think I'm a little bit in love. "

"Today I went to my sons class for career day as a cop in full uniform. I asked a little girl in front what she thought I was. Seeing her struggle to find the words I told her it starts with a "c" and ends with "op". Her answer? Caramel apple pop. It was the only time I had any regrets about my career."

"Today I got an update on the shipment of my Where's Waldo book. Apparently it has been lost in the mail and I'm going to get a refund on my money. Touche Waldo well played"

"Today while at the gas station, a man walked out with a shirt on that said "Who Needs Drugs?" on the front. Expecting something religious to be on the back, he turns around and I see that the back said "No seriously, I have drugs." My 50 year old mom laughed harder than I did"

"'Cause everything is never as it seems"

So lately, I am really liking this song Fireflies by Owl City. I heard it once and liked it! So I checked out the video and it's really simple but I really like the video too. It's cute and different and quirky. check it out!

An amazing man with an amazing testimony...

This is one of the single most incredible talks I have ever heard in my life. Listening to this man bear witness and share his testimony is one experience everyone should take advantege of. He is such a great speaker but this was something else, it was so powerful.

refreshing weekend

Got to head home this weekend. It was a long drive but most certainly worth it. I love my house in Buhl because of the simplicity and beauty and peacefulness that comes with being here. Getting out of the city is always so refreshing. It was extra great this time because the past couple of months have been, well, more stressful than I have liked and so busy and I've felt kind of in a rut. Arriving in Buhl and breathing in some fresh air was great.

On top of everything...this morning I awoke to a snow covered lawn! It was crazy! At first I thought...ugh snow! But as I looked out I realized that it was so beautiful and so I have decided that the snow is okay. I mean it is almost winter so I better get used to it!
